Start Date: 2012

ArchCare at Mary Manning Walsh Home, located at 1339 York Ave at 71st Street, is a 280 bed Long-Term / 82 bed Short-Term care facility that has been the community of choice for families seeking intensive exceptional long-term care and short-term rehabilitation on Manhattan’s Upper East Side for more than six decades. Mary Manning Walsh Home cares for people of all faiths in an atmosphere of grace and elegance rarely found in traditional nursing facilities.

Approximately 25 Knights, Dames, and Auxiliary regularly serve as visitors to residents, Mass transport and Eucharistic Ministers.  Members also support the annual Walk-a-thon, holiday celebrations throughout the year, the Annual Day at the Races and the Annual Superbowl Party.

MMW has a variety of daily day time, daily evening and weekend activities, as well as opportunities to assist in the planning and implementation of annual and Holiday celebrations.

If interested there are also many annual (Day at the Races, Walk-a-thon, Welcome Home Luncheon) and holiday (New Years, Super Bowl, St Patrick’s Day, Easter, July 4th, Thanksgiving & Christmas preparation and celebration) events that are in need of volunteers. Also, there are hospice needs as a new 10 bed facility opened on the 15th floor in partnership with Calvary.

There are varieties of activities and times in which they are VERY MUCH IN NEED of volunteers (some in our organization are already participating and M.M.W partners with confirmation students at St. Ignatius Loyola, Xavier & Regis) but requires more help.

It is our goal to have a wider and more consistent presence of Knights, Dames, Auxiliary and those interested in learning more about the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in a variety of the volunteer opportunities, especially this one.

Thank you for your consideration of the above, your time spent reading this and please let us know your availability so we can coordinate for you to participate. If you would like to forward to anyone who may also be interested please feel free.
