More than 50 Knights, Dames and Connecticut Auxiliary came out to celebrate the Feast of St. John, our Patron, at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Fairfield, Connecticut at a vigil Mass on Saturday, June 24th at 5:30pm.
Also present were Connecticut Area Chaplains, Bishop Frank Caggiano who was the main celebrant and homilist, Deputy Chaplain, Fr. Bill Platt, and Deputy Chaplain Deacon Gauthier Vincent. In his homily, Bishop Caggiano challenged members to fight against fear inspiring our membership by telling us that it is our job to “break the back of fear”. After Mass, members and their families continued this celebration with a cocktail reception in the parish hall.
Pictured above is Bishop Frank Caggiano who is commissioning three of our most recent Eucharistic Ministers who were trained by our Order of Malta Chaplain, Fr. Bill Platt (also present at the Mass), to serve the sick in our local hospitals and nursing homes. The Eucharistic Ministry program is our largest charitable work in the Connecticut Area with more than 70 Knights, Dames and Auxiliary who are active in bringing the Eucharist to the sick and homebound.
