Ordinary Time
Dear Confreres-

Today nature reminds me of the transition of seasons that are an inevitable part of life. The Minnesota area is transitioning to new leadership and this is a good thing. I am confident in Ivan's leadership abilities and his deep love for the Order of Malta that will guide him as he assumes the Area Chair position. He and I are working closely to make this transition as seamless as possible. As our Communications Chair for the last 4 years he already has a good sense of all things Minnesota.

Please prayerfully consider attending our area retreat on November 14th with Fr. Eric Hollas - more details are below.

Exciting news that the Board of Councilors has moved forward on opening up the Fargo, ND diocese as an area and one of our Minnesota Knights, Jake Rodenbiker, KM, will be in a leadership role - watch for more details as this continues to develop.

Congratulations to Jake and Molly Rodenbiker who just welcomed baby number four, Sophia Therese, on October 4th.

Archbishop Harry Flynn, a Magistral Chaplain for the Order of Malta passed away recently and I encourage you to keep him in your prayers and consider contributing towards a novena of masses for the repose of his soul. Send contribution to Mary Jo Martin.

The Minnesota Board has decided to have our Annual meeting and dinner after the December 14th Retreat. This event is for Knights and Dames only (Electronic Invitations will be sent). The annual meeting will be the perfect way to share with confreres the current aspects of our delegation and honor our incoming chair, Ivan Posthumus, KM. Please mark your calendars to attend this important area event.

The board also decided not to host the annual Holy Family Hospital Luncheon this year due to the retreat being in December and the need for an annual meeting.  However, we will be asking for donations at the annual dinner to support the hospital since this is a critical work of the Order of Malta - please see your recent HFH newsletter that came out this week for the current needs of the hospital.

Know of my prayers for each and every one of you.

In Christ,

Anne Marie Hansen, DM

Area Retreat Saturday, Dec.14th with Fr. Eric Hollas, OSB as our Retreat Master
Advent
Fr. Eric Hollas, OSB
is the season when we prepare to celebrate the mystery of the Incarnation. As members of the Order of Malta, we draw our charism both from that great event as well as from the words of Jesus, teaching us that what we do for the least of our brothers and sisters we do for Him.

Please join us for our Area retreat on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at the Little Sisters of the Poor, 330 Exchange Street South, Saint Paul, MN 55102. All members, their spouses, auxiliary, and those in formation are invited.

Our Retreat Master is Fr. Eric Hollas, OSB. Click here to view the retreat flyer

We will start with Holy Mass at 9:00am, followed by a light breakfast and a program that will run until about 3:00 pm.

A Request from our Duluth Knight Andrew Busam
Hello Everyone, there's a quality Duluth theater company, Wise Fool Theater, that's in a rough spot..read the article here.

I've seen their productions, and they put on a really good show. Plus, they have a long standing tradition of a pay-what-you-can Sunday matinee. It's a service to the poor in the area that doesn't really have any other equivalent. They are dedicated to bringing quality theater to everyone, and are a great asset to the community.

Their upcoming production of Hamlet will be their last, unless they can get on better financial footing. If you're in the Duluth area, come out to a performance on October 4-6 or 11-13, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, Sundays at 2pm.

And/or, if you are able, make a donation to the company; it's a 501(c)3, so it's tax deductible. Any amount, great or small will be appreciated. Show info, tickets, and donation links can be found at their website here:

Please spread the word!
