As part of our COVID-19 response, we surveyed 14 indigenous Wayuu communities in La Guajira, Colombia to assess their capacity to confront the virus. With the support of the United States Development Agency (USAID), we are fighting COVID-19 in vulnerable Wayuu indigenous communities in the region. This includes training 60 community health workers on COVID-19 prevention and detection practices and working with local government to improve reporting systems and expanding water supply.

We’re also investing in youth engagement by donating laptops and cell phones to the Youth Leadership Network, who will be tasked with developing a public information video campaign about COVID-19 for the rural communities of La Guajira.
