Pray the Prayer for the Election of the Grand Master

10/30/2020

Please pray for the election of the Grand Master and for the safety of the electors traveling to Rome for the Council Complete of State. Please consider saying the prayer that Archbishop Vigneron composed every day until the close of the Council (scheduled for November 7-8). Also include the same intention in your Rosary and Mass.

Prayer for the Holy Spirit to Guide the Election of the Grand Master of the Order of Malta

Scripture Reading

Let us listen to the words of the Gospel according to Matthew.

“Jesus… said [to his disciples], ‘You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and the great ones make their authority over them felt.  But it shall not be so among you. Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave.  Just so, the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many’.”   (Mt. 20: 25-28)

  1. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful.
  2. And kindle in them the fire of your love.
  3. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.
  4. And you will renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray,

O Lord, ruler and guardian of your Church, at the time appointed by your Holy Providence you inspired Blessed Gerard to found the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Rhoades and Malta. In our day we look again to your loving Providence, now to provide for us a worthy successor to lead as the Grand Master of our Order.  Pour out we pray upon those entrusted to make this choice a fresh outpouring of your Holy Spirit.  Give them the light and strength to know your will and to make it their own.  Do not allow them to be misled by ignorance or corrupted by fear or favor.  May they seek only what is for your glory and the renewal of our Order, so that we may with ever greater zeal be about practicing and defending the Catholic, the Apostolic, the Roman faith against sacrilege, and practicing charity towards our neighbors, especially the poor and sick.  We ask this through the intercession of Our Lady of Philermo, our Holy Patron Saint, John the Baptist, Blessed Gerard, our Founder, and all the Saints and Blessed of our Order.  Amen[1]
