Order of Malta Hospitality Center Seeks Volunteers

04/01/2023

The Order of Malta Hospitality Center at the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help, located in Champion, WI, is a ministry of the United States Associations of the Order of Malta. Knights and Dames provide greeting, hospitality, and basic first aid for pilgrims on days of planned events at the Shrine that draw significant attendance. The Hospitality Center is a dedicated space within the main Conference Hall. Local paramedics are also on site for each of these events. This year’s events, where both medical and non-medical Knight and Dame volunteers are being sought to staff the facility, are the following:

May 6 | Walk to Mary

Annual 21-mile walking pilgrimage from the Shrine of St. Joseph to the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help. This is the 10th anniversary walk. Past events have drawn upwards of 4,000 walkers and visitors to the Shrine so this year there is an expectation that there’ll be even more. The Order of Malta will be staffing its Center and First Aid tent at the Shrine providing rest and recovery services to pilgrims once they reach the Shrine.

August 15 | Feast of the Assumption

Mass at 11am with Eucharistic Rosary Process to follow. There have been over 2,000 attendees each year.

October 7-9 | Feast of Our Lady of Champion & Apparition Anniversary

Activities celebrating the anniversary of the Apparition and the Miracle of the Fire. There have been in excess of 2,000 visitors in the past for this weekend. October 9th is the 164th Marian Apparition Anniversary.
