On the first Wednesday of every month, New Jersey Area Knights and Dames meet at Mary’s Hands part of Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Paterson to assemble layette sets. Mary’s Hands is a social services program and community ministry based at St. Margaret of Scotland Parish in Morristown, New Jersey. They provide family assistance, baby items, clothing, English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) classes, and local resource navigation for people in need. The Area Grant they receive from the NJ Area buys pack-n-play cribs, strollers, car seats and helps fill in gaps with essentials. Our volunteers sort the clothes and shoes by size to make layettes for mothers. When the client arrives, they are given age-appropriate clothes.
