Vigil Mass for Feast of St. John the Baptist 2016
A testament to the growth of the NYC Area, and the inclusion of members from Westchester, Long Island and NJ, is that our annual Mass in honor of the Birth of St. John the Baptist was celebrated in the auditorium of the Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center rather than the Chapel.
Well over 80 members, Auxiliary, Candidates and prospects attended the Mass celebrated by Msgr. Bob Ritchie and concelebrated with Msgr. Peter Finn, Msgr. Douglas Mathers, and Fr. David Skoblow. Fr. Gerry Murray was also in attendance, as was Fr. John Andersen, chaplain of TCC. Deacon John Shea of Westchester assisted. Pianist and vocalist from St. Paul’s added to the solemnity of the occasion.
Following Mass, a reception on the rooftop terrace of TCC was hosted by Scott LaRue, KM, and the staff of ArchCare at TCC. It was a beautiful evening; no sign of the thunderstorms predicted for that evening.
Many thanks go to the Irishes for organizing the Mass; to Msgr. Ritchie for his wonderful homily; and to Scott LaRue and his team for a lovely reception.
