The Boston Area gathered together to celebrate the Feast of St. John the Baptist on Monday, June 24th at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston. We had warm welcome from Msgr. Kevin O’Leary, the Rector of the Cathedral. Msgr. Dennis Sheehan was our presider along with Fr. Jack Ahern, Fr. Brian Kiely, and Fr. Steve Linehan as concelebrants.
The turnout of just over 50 attendees included members, auxiliary, formation candidates, and invited guests. Msgr. Sheehan reminded us that we are called, like Elizabeth and Zechariah, to listen and to be obedient to God’s instruction!
Following Mass, we headed off to the family reception room downstairs for food and refreshments. After everyone was settled, we heard a very informative talk by Prof. Tyler J. VanderWeele on “Religious Community and Human Flourishing.” Prof. VanderWeele is the Director of the Human Flourishing Program at Harvard University. The talk was followed by a question and answer session and then the reception lingered on for another 30 minutes.
