Members from the New York City Area participated in several activities honoring the 3rd Annual World Day of the Poor. Knights and Dames transported 60 residents of the Terence Cardinal Cooke Healthcare Center’s nursing home and hospital to Sunday Mass.
Members, volunteers, and young parishioners assisted in making sandwiches and assembling 200 bags with sandwiches, hats and socks. Groups then went out to the Bowery and parks on the Lower East Side to distribute the bags to the poor and homeless. The process was repeated again in the evening.
Knights, Dames, Auxiliary members, and volunteers also served Thanksgiving dinner to about 50 residents of the TCC hospital and their families on two separate nights.
