Members throughout the Boston Area have started several new initiatives to stay in touch with local members and help out during this time of great need.
The Area’s leadership team members have reached out to every member in the Area, initially by email before following up with a phone call. The calls provided a thoughtful check-in, comforting conversation, and prayers. The response among members has been wonderful with appreciation for the thoughtful outreach.
Knights and Dames have also hosted many live Wednesday evening conference call prayer services, led by our chaplains. This week, we were blessed to have Cardinal O’Malley lead us in Evening Prayer with a beautiful reflection. Leading up to Easter, Msgr. Moroney, hosted three conference call sessions while leading us in the “Stations of the Cross During a Time of Pandemic” at the Cathedral of St. Paul in Worcester.
In response to the call to consider grants for emergency food-related assistance, two grants have been made, one to the Cor Unum Meal Center in Lawrence, MA, and one to the Mary Ann Brett Food Pantry in Dorchester, MA. Both locations are tied to local parishes. Area volunteers have also been serving meals to go at the Cor Unum Meal Center.
