Boston Area Presents Year of the Eucharist Workshop Session Two.
“The Eucharist is the perfect topic for Lent,” commented Steve Barrett, KM, who participated in the second workshop on March 16th. The theme for session two was “Becoming What You Receive: Living as a Disciple of Christ.”
The Boston Area is presenting the online program in partnership with Liturgy Training Publications. It is designed to provide an opportunity for participants to grow profoundly in relationship with the Lord through His True Presence in the Eucharist. The March 16th event was the second session of the three-part program.
Presenter Jessica DePrizio Cole led the discussion, highlights of which included:
- The Eucharist as Meal and Sacrifice. “Because the loaf of bread is one, we, though many, are one body.” I Corinthians 10:17. Sharing a meal breaks down barriers.
- The Body of Christ, The Blood of Christ. “If you therefore, are Christ’s body and members, it is your own mystery that is placed on the Lord’s table.” Augustine, Sermon 272. Become what you receive. You are this body with us, for, collectively we are this body.
- Building up the Body of Christ/Mission. “Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and dry them with the towel around his waist.” John 13:5. Service moves us toward communion with one another and with God.
The session ended with encouragement to consider more ways to be the Body of Christ out in the world.
The third and final session in the program takes place on Tuesday, April 20th at 7PM. Prior attendance is not a prerequisite for the third session. All are welcome. Details for the third session will go out just after Easter!
“For me, the best part of Lent so far.” Steve Barrett, KM
