The Michigan Area celebrated the Feast of St. John the Baptist on Sunday June 26th with Mass followed by a brunch at Bloomfield Hills Country Club for our annual meeting. The annual meeting outlined our events for the last 12 months, discussed the Leadership meeting in early June that took place in Detroit, outlined the new works calendar the area is developing and our new communication strategy around volunteer opportunities within the area, as well as, our member recruiting efforts in the Gaylord, Lansing, and SE Michigan.
The highlight of the Annual meeting was the announcement of a matching challenge grant by the estate of John Tierney KM to be the seed of an endowment fund for the Malta & Dental Clinic.
The Mass was beautiful, the message in the homily by our Chaplain Monsignor Lefever was very uplifting and right on the theme of our meeting to evangelize through our community and our works with the poor and the sick following the model of our Patron Saint. The comments on our meeting were very upbeat and the feeling was that everybody had an enjoyable time learning about the area’s accomplishments and future plans.
