The annual Order of Malta—NYC Area Christmas party for the residents of the Terence Cardinal Cooke Healthcare Center (TCC) is always a joyful event for both SMOM members and the residents. This year was no different, but it was an extra delight for many to have H.M.E.H. Grand Master Frà John Dunlap back in NYC for the festivities. After transporting residents to Mass on Sunday, December 17th, Frà John and others members of the Area gathered for lunch and the wrapping of gifts for our guests, followed by transporting residents to the party. Once the party started, guests were served cider and soft drinks along with cake and cookies. Members mingled with the guests, chatting or dancing to the live music while everyone awaited the arrival of Santa. Santa greeted each guest and passed out presents. Many thanks to Steve Bujno, KM, our new Area co-chair, for donning the Santa suit this year!
After the entertainment concluded, our guests were transported back to their rooms. Members then proceeded to the Kelleher residence nearby where our annual Members’ Christmas party and caroling commenced. Thanks to Eric Vitale, KM, our other new NYC Area co-chair, who organized the music program this year. Eric and Lauren Andree, AUX, along with two friends, not only led us in song, but also entertained us with two songs on their own, including a beautiful rendition of “O Holy Night”. Guests had an opportunity to sample a few wines (Pinot Grigio, Prosecco and the award-winning red Nero Cavilieri) from the Order of Malta’s vineyards in Italy.
