At the invitation of the University of Notre Dame, the Michigan Area participated in a July 7 on-campus Eucharistic procession, part of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage.
The Notre Dame event was on the Marian Route, the Pilgrimage’s northern arm. Although the Marian Route did not pass through Michigan, the University of Notre Dame is very close to the state’s border with Indiana, about a four-hour drive from the Detroit area.
Twenty Michigan Area Dames, Knights, Members in Formation, Auxiliaries, and family members journeyed to northern Indiana for Mass at the university’s Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Dames and Knights processed into Mass with the priests of the Congregation of the Holy Cross (CSC).
After Mass, Michigan Area members led the Eucharistic Procession around the university’s famous “God Quad,” concluding with solemn benediction on the steps of the iconic Golden Dome building. Presiding at Mass and leading the procession was Fr. Brian Ching, CSC. rector of the basilica.
The Marian Route will converge with the other three branches in Indianapolis on July 16 for the 10th National Eucharistic Congress. Visit https://www.eucharisticpilgrimage.org/.
