On September 8, 2024 the New York City Area held a Mass and Reception for the Feast of Our Lady of Philermos at the Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral. Dames, Knights and Affiliates were joined by a congregation of over 500, as the Area introduced the Order to prospective new Affiliates and potential new members. 

Bishop Paul Sanchez, D.D., Ch. C celebrated the liturgy along with Fr. Enrique Salvo, Ch. M, Assistant Principal Chaplain of the American Association. Other concelebrants included Chaplains of the Order and Chaplains affiliated with the works of the New York Area.

In attendance were Ken Craig, President of the American Association, members of the Malta Permanent Mission to the UN as well as the Holy See Permanent Mission. At an overflow reception afterwards at the Parish House, guests had the opportunity to view the updated NYC Affiliate Page (https://orderofmaltaamerican.org/areas/new-york-city/new-york-city-affiliate/) which includes a new video and slideshow offering an easy way for those interested in the Affiliate program to learn more and begin the application process. 

In the first 18 hours after the event, the NYC Area received over two dozen requests for information on joining the Affiliate program and participating in our works of defending the Faith and serving our Lords, the sick and the poor.
