On Thursday September 26, the NYC Area conducted its annual Flu Vaccination Clinic at St. Francis Breadline, in partnership with Malteser International Americas. Our veteran team of Nursing volunteers (Pat Kringas, Patti Hickey and Keara Stewart) administered flu shots to over 50 Breadline guests — a record number! The NYC Area also provided guests with gift bags containing winter hats, glove, socks and a Dunkin’ gift card.
All of the Breadline guests were also able to enjoy delicious pancakes — on National Pancake Day! — fresh off the griddle, in what we hope will be a new NYC Area tradition. A large crew of NYC Area DM/KM, Affiliates and friends were up at the crack of dawn to make hundreds of pancakes in a very impressive logistical operation next to the Flu Clinic tent.
Thank you to all our volunteers who served the St. Francis Breadline guests through both the Flu Vaccination Clinic and the pancake breakfast. The NYC Area feels blessed to be able to provide these services to vulnerable members of the community, advancing the Order’s mission of ministering to the poor and the sick.
