On Saturday, January 4th, seven Missouri Area Knights, Dames, and Auxiliary members took part in what will now be a regular part of the Missouri Area’s efforts to serve the sick and the poor by staffing the St. Pius V Food pantry in the South Grand neighborhood of the City of St. Louis.
Whether manning the counters or replenishing the stocks of supplies, the volunteers’ goal was to give their “customers” a pleasant morning of “shopping.” They did their best to accommodate individual preferences and took the time to chat with those who needed a sympathetic ear as much as a basket of nutritious food.
A rotating group of local members will serve at the food pantry at least once every quarter from now on.
