On Saturday, February 8, NYC Area volunteers gathered at Abraham House in the South Bronx and helped distribute over 250 bags of food from its pantry. Abraham House, one of three houses of study operated by Thrive for Life Prison Project, provides a continuity of care to justice-impacted individuals committed to continuing the good work of education. Bracing the cold, Abraham House residents and our volunteers distributed over 250 bags of food to members of the local community – all of whom are justice-impacted.
Abraham House provides a holistic suite of supportive reentry services rooted in Thrive For Life’s four pillars of housing, education, employment, and a deep sense of purpose. Members of Thrive for Life generously gave volunteers a tour of Abraham House, including its food pantry and chapel. Importantly, residents shared their life experiences and spiritual outlook with volunteers, motivating everyone with their resilience and faith. Please keep them in your prayers.
A primary beneficiary of the NYC Area Mobile Ministry, Thrive for Life has been renovating their classroom spaces at Abraham House to provide onsite vocational and technical education to its residents and members of the broader justice-impacted community. This has been made possible with the help of the Malta van. If you would like to participate as a driver, passenger or loader, or if you would like to volunteer with the Order at Thrive for Life, please click here to contact NYC Mobile Ministries Coordinator, Michael Smilek, YOF.
