Missouri Area’s Lenten Day of Reflection

03/20/2025

On Saturday, March 8th, members from the Missouri Area gathered for a Lenten Day of Reflection at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church in St. Louis. The morning began with a talk given by Rev. Ross Romero, SJ. Fr. Romero serves as Associate Professor of Philosophy at Kendrick-Glennon Seminary.

He has conducted retreats in settings ranging from Nebraska to Nigeria and uses his academic study of philosophy as a means of helping people deepen their prayer lives. Fr. Romero’s presentation prepared our Malta family for a period of reflection and an opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The day of reflection culminated in a Mass concelebrated by our Magistral Chaplain, Msgr. Vernon Gardin with Fr. Romero, and Fr. Thomas Keller, who is an Associate of our Area.

After Mass, members enjoyed lunch, fellowship, and a brief talk by Chris Stephen, Executive Director/CEO of St. Patrick Center. The center has been supported in some of the many programs it offers to serve the poor by the Missouri Area of the Order of Malta, and regularly receives the assistance of Malta Mobile Ministries.
