On Thursday, September 25th, the New York City Area conducted its annual Flu Vaccination Clinic at St. Francis Breadline in midtown Manhattan. The Clinic was held in partnership with Malteser International Americas (MIA) and coincided with the breakfast service for Breadline guests. Despite early morning downpours and a dreary weather forecast, the clinic was a huge success, with close to 50 Breadline guests receiving a flu shot. The NYC Area also provided each guest with a gift bag containing a winter hat, socks, gloves, and a Dunkin’ gift card.
Thank you to all our volunteers. Our gratitude to Margi English, DM, Executive Director of MIA, for MIA’s sponsorship of the clinic and to Olga Palinkasev for coordinating the clinic from Malteser’s side. Special thanks to our wonderful vaccinators, Keara Stewart, NP, and Pat Kringas, RN. Pat has been our invaluable Vaccine Coordinator for several years, working in close partnership with NYC Area Co-Chair Steve Bujno, KM in the planning, organizing and running of our clinics.
The NYC Area will conduct another flu vaccination clinic on Monday, September 29th at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church. We feel blessed to be able to provide this health service to vulnerable members of the community, advancing the Order’s mission of ministering to the poor and the sick.
