Michigan Area members serve up lunch, fellowship at St. Leo’s Soup Kitchen on September 26

10/03/2025

Heeding the Order’s charism to serve the poor, on September 26, Michigan Area members prepared 100 lunches at St. Leo’s Soup Kitchen in Detroit.

Organized by Michigan Area Hospitaller Kathleen Mastrangelo, DM, teams of Michigan Area volunteers work at the soup kitchen on the second and fourth Fridays of each month (and on fifth Fridays when they occur).

Located in the People’s Community Church, St. Leo’s Soup Kitchen serves about 30,000 lunches annually to the hungry, isolated, and lonely in the community. Part of the ministry is treating guests with love and respect.

Volunteering at the lunch service with Kathleen were Carolyn Andree, DM; Associate Ky Cam; Associate Linda Franklin (Malade at the Lourdes 2025 Pilgrimage); Associate Rana Jamil; Donna Nelson, DM; and Eileen Sobel.
