Northeast Florida Area Observes Feast of Blessed Gerard in Malta

10/22/2025

Eight Knights and Dames from the Northeast Florida Area, accompanied by the Federal Association’s Jacksonville Region Hospitaller and his wife, journeyed to Malta for a meaningful pilgrimage in honor of the Feast of Blessed Gerard.

The group first joined members of the Maltese Association for a special Vigil Mass at the historic St. John Co-Cathedral in Valletta. On the Feast Day itself, they attended Mass with the Sisters of the Order of St. John at the Conventual Church of St. Ursula, celebrated in the presence of the principal relic of Blessed Gerard’s skull—a deeply spiritual and reverent experience.

The eight-day pilgrimage also included visits to significant sites tied to the history and the present-day mission of the Order. Highlights included the island of St. Paul’s shipwreck, the cave where he lived for three months, and other beloved shrines that hold deep meaning for the Maltese people. This journey offered both historical insight and spiritual enrichment, strengthening the bonds of faith and fellowship among participants.
