Driving Service: How the Malta Mobile Ministry Van Powered Investiture Weekend

11/20/2025

This year, the NYC Area’s Malta Mobile Ministry Van played a vital role in the success of Investiture Weekend.

The journey began Wednesday afternoon with a pickup of supplies, books, flags, and regalia from the American Association Office in midtown. On Thursday morning, the van transported 27 Knights and Dames from the Westin Hotel to participate in a service project at Thrive for Life Prison Ministry in the South Bronx. Later that day, it made two trips between the Westin and St. Patrick’s Cathedral to deliver flags and banners for our liturgy.

Friday morning saw the van return to the Westin to escort Chaplains of the Order to the Cathedral for the Investiture Liturgy, then move all regalia to Cipriani for the Investiture Dinner. After dinner, Knights and Dames in white tie and tails helped load the van with flowers destined for the Holy Family Hospital fundraiser brunch the next morning.

After Saturday’s brunch, two Knights delivered the remaining floral displays to patients at Mary Manning Walsh Nursing Home. Later that day, the van escorted the Prelate, Monsignor Luis Manuel Cuña Ramos, to the Mass for the Subpriory of Our Lady of Lourdes at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi. Afterwards, a team packed the van with flags and banners for return to the American Association Office.

Finally, on Sunday morning, the van picked up Monsignor Cuña Ramos and escorted him to Terence Cardinal Cooke Hospital for a special liturgy with patients.

It was a remarkable weekend of service and logistics—made possible by the dedication of all involved. Many thanks to everyone who made it happen!
