On a cold Wednesday, January 21st, members of the NYC Area, Auxiliary, and friends gathered at St. Patrick’s Cathedral for the first Malta Walks of 2026. In the Cathedral’s downstairs prayer room, the group began with praying together the Daily Prayer of the Order before assembling 50 Order of Malta bags filled with warm scarves, socks, toiletries, combs, granola bars, vitamin C packets, moisturizers, sandwiches, and bananas.
Energized by music and camaraderie, the volunteers set out along Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue, distributing the bags to the sick and poor living on the streets of Midtown Manhattan. The evening concluded with fellowship and conversation as the group gathered at Grand Central Terminal.
