Knights and Dames Join Archbishop Hicks on the Occasion of His Installation and for Solemn Vespers

02/10/2026

Last week, the New York City Area’s Knights and Dames joined six cardinals; 13 archbishops; dozens of bishops; hundreds of priests, nuns, and other religious; and senior leaders from all major religions in a cathedral filled to capacity with the faithful on the occasion of Archbishop Hicks’ installation as well as Solemn Vespers.

Archbishop Hicks reminded us in his homily that “we are called to be a missionary church; a church that catechizes, evangelizes and puts our faith into action; a church made up of missionary disciples who go out and make disciples, passing the faith on from one generation to the next. A church that takes care of the poor and the vulnerable. A church that defends, respects and upholds life, from conception to natural death. A church that cares for creation, builds bridges, listens synodally, protects children, promotes healing for survivors and for all those who have been wounded by the church. A church that shows respect for all, building unity across cultures and generations.”

Paz y Bien! As our new Archbishop begins, we offer our prayers for him and for New York City. “Todos nosotros estamos llamados a ser discípulos misioneros, en una iglesia misionera, con almas misioneras.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Cardinal Dolan for his extraordinary leadership, guidance, and friendship to New York City.  We have been blessed to have him as our shepherd for almost 17 years, and are delighted that he will continue to call New York his home.
