South West Connecticut and Westchester Areas Celebrate World Day of Prayer for the Sick

02/10/2026

On Saturday, February 7, members of the Connecticut – South West and New York – Westchester Areas came together to celebrate the World Day of Prayer for the Sick and the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. Despite frigid temperatures and a snowy morning, the celebration drew a warm and enthusiastic turnout.

The afternoon began with the recitation of the Rosary, led by Betsy Reiss, DM. A beautiful Mass followed, featuring a candlelight procession, the Anointing of the Sick, and a special blessing of caregivers—elements that created a deeply prayerful and moving experience for all in attendance. Mass was celebrated by Msgr. Rob Kinnally, ChD, with concelebrants Fr. Bob Dunn, ChM; Fr. Joe Cavoto, ChM, ChD; and Deacon Jack Shea, ChDD.

The music was beautiful and inspirational, provided by Dr. John Michniewicz and Jeffrey Taveras, greatly enriching the liturgy. A reception was held immediately following Mass at Stapleton Hall, providing a joyful opportunity for fellowship and continued celebration. A day like this does not happen without the dedication of many amazing priests and volunteers. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who made this celebration possible, and especially to those listed below. Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us!
