Acts of kindness, great or small, are meaningful. Acts of kindness reflect our inner lives of faith, hope and love. Members of the Connecticut – North East Area and many friends collected money to purchase 132 “Coats for the Homeless” from fellow members of the Order of Malta in Oklahoma City’s Blessed Are They ministry (https://blessedrthey.org) which supports vulnerable homeless persons. “Coats for the Homeless” is a medium-duty winter coat for those living on the streets. The coat is designed by homeless people for homeless people.
Just as St. Martin of Tours responded to the need in front of him without hesitation, members of the Order and friends responded to the perceived need of clothing this winter. Loving the poor, reflects Jesus’ love for all of us. It’s a witness that changes everything.
132 coats were distributed to existing and new relationships with Catholic Charities (Waterbury, CT), St Vincent de Paul Societies (Middletown and Norwich, CT), the Cornerstone Foundation (Vernon, CT) and three parishes located within the Archdiocese of Hartford, the Diocese of Norwich and the Eparchy of Passaic. The picture shows Order of Malta members John and David with Andrea from Catholic Charities Waterbury receiving some coats. Blessed be God!
