Philadelphia Area Gathers for Lenten Reflection

03/19/2026

On Saturday, March 14th, Knights and Dames in the Pennsylvania – Philadelphia Area joined together with Knights and Dames from the Federal Association for a day of Lenten reflection at Ivy Hall, the headquarters of the International Institute for Culture in Philadelphia. The morning began with a very light breakfast, and soon the morning activities of our a retreat day commenced.

This event was led by Father Matthew Brody, Ch. de M., Pastor of Saint Patrick’s Church in Norristown, PA, and special Minister of Mercy appointed by the late Pope Francis.

Father’s reflection elaborated on the importance of our traditional Lenten practices, but his main focus was upon how members of the Order of Malta might be moved to manifest the 24 Hours for the Lord, a growing devotion that has been established and is gaining prominence over the last decade or so. He encouraged us to pray about ways that this devotion could dovetail well with our mission of service to the poor and defense of the Faith.

Following our reflection, there was an opportunity for confessions for any attendees who so desired. Then, the pinnacle of the day of reflection was the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for those in attendance. We were very blessed to share our day with invited guests, candidates, and members of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre, too.
