The National Eucharistic Pilgrimage, commemorating America’s 250th anniversary, began on May 23 in St. Augustine—home to the nation’s oldest parish. On the eve of the opening Eucharistic Procession from the Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche to the Cathedral on May 24, the Order of Malta Northeast Florida Area led early pilgrims on a two-and-a-half-mile “Bambino Camino” from Vilano Beach to the Shrine.

This meaningful beginning marks the start of a historic journey that will pass through all thirteen original colonies, concluding in Philadelphia on July 4. Knights and Dames from both the American and Federal Associations joined together for the opening procession, offering a united and visible witness of faith at the outset of this national pilgrimage.
