Msgr. James Moroney, ChD, was thanked for leading Boston Area members and friends in the Stations of the Cross Friday afternoon, March 20th, via a live conference call from the Cathedral of St. Paul in Worcester, MA. The extended Boston Area members are so grateful to Msgr. for creating a special edition of the Stations in “A Time of Pandemic.”  It was a powerful experience while moving through the stations in the empty Cathedral.

Members and friends were reminded that the Stations of the Cross is a Lenten devotion that offers witness to Jesus’ Passion and Death. At each station, we use our senses and our imagination to reflect prayerfully upon Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection, and to simply experience the visual images to reflect on Christ’s love for us.

As all reflect in the days ahead on the Stations of the Cross, they are encouraged to pray “that we have the strength to look at, and listen to the pain in the faces and hearts of others in these challenging days and weeks ahead, and to offer family, friends, and neighbors, a small sign of compassion. Let us offer a loving smile or a helping hand, which will go a long way in lifting a suffering heart!”

Appreciation was also expressed to Fr. Brian Kiely for leading the Boston Area in prayer Thursday night, through another live conference call. At Fr. Kiely’s request, members and friends were reminded to always keep their eyes fixed on Jesus, to trust in his unwavering love, and to reach out to neighbors nearby in love and service.

Finally, President Peter Kelly provided words of support and encouragement to all. He also extended a warm invitation to participate in the Rosary prayer service every Sunday evening during Lent at 7 PM ET, as we gather as members of an extended community, and pray together for the end of this pandemic and for those whose lives have been affected by it.
