Description |
Residents Encounter Christ (REC) is a three day spiritual retreat based on the Cursillo/Echo format for the residents of the jail. The theme of each weekend reflects the Paschal Mystery: Christ has died, Christ is risen, and Christ will come again. The program is held six times a year with three retreats for men and three retreats for women. Our goal is to introduce the resident candidates to the love and hope of Jesus Christ and to encourage and enable them to encounter Him in a personal way so as to change their way of life. |
Activities Members Are Involved In |
The mission of the R.E.C. Outreach is to help ex-residents adjust to life outside the prison and to assist with that transition. Talks are prepared and presented by team members reflecting each part of the Paschal Mystery. Celebrating the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist is an essential part of each weekend. After each retreat, team members return on Monday and Tuesday nights, as a follow-up, to reinforce the Gospel message of healing and forgiveness. |
