On Tuesday, May 21st, Malteser International Americas was delighted to welcome several friends and guests, (many of whom are members of the American Association) in Philadelphia, for our first in-person event since 2019. Hosted by Dr. John Haas, KM and the International Institute for Culture, our goal was to raise awareness about the work we do around the world in service of the sick and the poor, as the humanitarian arm of the Sovereign Order of Malta.
Remarks were made by Dr. John Haas, KM and Conor Heathcote (Head of Policy, Malteser International) on the history of the Order and how we work together – with Malteser International (MI) and MI Americas – to support the most vulnerable. We highlighted many of MI’s recent areas of intervention and relief such as our response to the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria, our continued efforts in Ukraine, as well as our most recent intervention supporting the people of Gaza in partnership with the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem. With a special focus on displacement, health, and emergency relief, we have supported over 5.6 million people globally just in 2023 and hope to continue doing so with the helping hand of dedicated supporters.
