On Monday, January 7, the NYC Area celebrated its inaugural First Monday Mass of the New Year. Rev. Msgr. Robert Ritchie, GCChC, Chief Chaplain of the American Association, celebrated the Mass in the Lady Chapel of St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
In his homily, Msgr. Ritchie preached about the Gospel’s description of Jesus curing “all who were sick with various diseases and racked with pain, those who were possessed, lunatics, and paralytics.” January 7 was the feast day of St. André Bessette and Msgr. Ritchie also discussed this Saint’s devotion to St. Joseph and how St. André Bessette would be right at home in the Order of Malta, due to his lifelong work with the sick.
After Mass, several attendees gathered at a local pub for fellowship and to discuss New Year’s resolutions.
