On Thursday, July 31st, New Jersey Area Knights, Dames and Associates gathered in Spring Lake for our monthly our Food Bags to Go ministry. Volunteers pack snacks such as juice boxes, cereal, mac ‘n cheese, fruit cups, goldfish, cheese crackers, pudding, cookies, chips, etc. and then deliver the 50 bags to Linkages.

Linkages in the Diocese of Trenton, which is part of Catholic Charities, provides transitional housing for mothers and children. It is also one of the New Jersey Area’s regular grant recipients which separately funds the set-up of housing units as they turn-over with new kitchenware, linens, and towels. The clients are able to take their home goods with them once they find permanent housing.

One of our volunteers always chips-in with several boxes of diapers for the clients. Many families anticipate the arrival of our Food Bags and wait at the office for the drop off which provides a “sweet” treat for their children.
