On Saturday, September 6th, members of the New Jersey Area gathered at Sacred Heart RC Church in Bay Head to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Philermo. A moving homily was delivered by Father Philip Michael Tangorra, ChD, who was assisted by Father Alex Nevitt, ChD. We were honored to have Frá Richard Wolff in attendance.
A reception followed at the Mantoloking home of Suzy Moran, DMOb. The storms held out until the last minute — blessing us with a beautiful afternoon. Dr. Stephen Fletcher, KM, along with two other doctors, gave a presentation about their surgical mission in Guatemala. This year they plan to bring more doctors and complete 75 surgeries.
This mission provides surgical procedures to the poorest of the poor. The arrangements for the patients and procuring the hospital rooms are done through their affiliation with the Order of Malta, Guatemalan Association, which runs the St. Joseph’s Clinic.
