On Saturday, August 8, members of the New Jersey Area assisted the Mercy House with bulk food pickups that will be distributed across the Mercy House network and help feed needy families in the Archdiocese of Newark.

The Mercy House is a ministry of the Archdiocese of Newark whose mission is to provide a welcoming space for individuals and families in need of healing, support, or even food, in a faith-filled environment. There are three locations in the Archdiocese, one of which also functions as a women’s residence.

The morning was coordinated by John Valeri, KM, and New Jersey’s Mobile Ministry. Volunteers met in Bayonne to pick up the food, load it onto the Malta Van, then drove to Newark to drop off at the Mercy House. The food also had to be split between the three Mercy House locations.

Mercy House staff were appreciative of the help in organizing the bulk food pickup. We look forward to assisting again in the future.
