Cardinal Timothy Dolan will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Catholic parish within the walls of Green Haven Prison, built with great courage and heroic effort by Father Donovan, who was Chaplain at the prison for 40 years.
Much of the Chapel was built by Catholic inmates. The chapel art is of St. Paul, shown first as a criminal being part of the stoning of Stephen, and then as a great witness to the faith. Area Dame Jennifer Van Tuyl and her husband Knight John Donoghue have taught Catholic Bible and Catechism classes to inmates at Greenhaven (located in Stormville, N.Y.) for several years.
In light of the Order’s work in Prison Ministry, all Members are invited to join the Upstate New York Area for this special celebration.
If you would like to participate, please let Jennifer know ASAP at firstname.lastname@example.org or (914) 582-5234 so that your name can be included with those for whom gate clearance is requested.
Please Note: Attendees must arrive by 9 a.m. for the 10 a.m. Mass.
