Opening of the Shrine of Blessed Karl of Austria
Sunday, November 20
Holy Mass at 10:30am at the Church of Saint Agnes, 535 Thomas Avenue West, Saint Paul, MN 55103

The parish has invited us to vest and process in for the Mass, at which Princess Maria-Anna Galitzine, a granddaughter of Blessed Karl, will participate in unveiling the depiction of Blessed Karl and his wife, Servant of God Zita, at the new shrine in their side chapel and installing the relic of Blessed Karl.

Blessed Karl was someone who pursued sanctity by devotion to the Sacred Heart and the Eucharist. As Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary, and also a spouse and father, he is an example of balancing demanding work with family life. He focused on his duties to his family and his peoples from his time as a military officer, to his unexpected rise to being head of state, and then through exile and sacrifice.

For the Order, there are less than two dozen of our members over the last 900 years who have been beatified or canonized, so to have one of them honored with a local shrine is an exciting opportunity for us and I hope we can be well-represented at the Mass.
Breakfast will be available after Mass in Schuler Hall, in the basement of the church.
