Description

Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women is a prison Westchester County, New York. It is the only women’s maximum security prison in N.Y. It is the largest (900+) women’s prison in New York. Its family-centered program, founded by Sister Elaine Roulet, has served as a model for other prison programs in the United States and is considered the standard for innovative family-centered programs. Members typically visit once a month on Thursdays. Members visit, talk, and pray with inmates.

Activities Members Are Involved In

Members are dedicated to a ministry of presence at this facility. They visit with inmates, talk, share stories, and listening in face to face encounters. These encounters always result in shared prayer time, and reminders to the inmates that they are not alone. They work alongside Dominican religious sisters.
