Activities Members Are Involved In

On September 9th 2017, The Connecticut Order of Malta volunteers began the third year of service at New Covenant Center in Stamford, CT. On the second Saturday of each month, Knights, Dames, Prospective Candidates and family members gather to prepare and serve the lunch meal to guests at NCC. Each second Saturday 6-7 volunteers are needed from 10am-12pm to prepare and cook lunch. The second shift of 6-7 volunteers work from noon-2pm, finishing lunch preparations, serving the meal and cleaning the kitchen after the guests have left. Volunteers bring gallons of milk to serve the guests, but otherwise the food we cook is donated to NCC from other sources. While working Saturdays at NCC, Malta volunteers also assist with unloading grocery donations and stocking shelves in the pantry. Malta’s involvement at New Covenant Center has been very successful and well received both by the Center staff and Malta volunteers. Volunteers also can help prepare food for another meal, fold napkins with silverware or help in the pantry if extra hands are available. The volunteers time is well spent and NCC is a happy place to be involved!
