Description |
The Morris County Correctional Facility, a $32 million, state-of-the-art structure, opened in May of 2000. This six story building, considered to be one of the premier jails in the nation, includes eight housing pods totaling 277 cells with the capacity to house a total of 524 inmates. Members visit once weekly on Wednesday mornings. Two Masses are held, one for males, the other for females. Confession is available at the inmates’ requests. Since there is no dedicated chapel, volunteers bring in temporary alter for each mass. |
Activities Members Are Involved In |
Members help to prepare for Mass in the makeshift chapel area, worship together with inmates, and have time for fellowship. Members encourage the sacrament of penance, distribute Malta bibles and prayer books in both English and Spanish, rosary beads, as well as other spiritual reading material. |
