Members of the Southern, Northern, and Western Connecticut Area took part in a variety of activities, including some monthly activities, in honor of the 3rd World Day of the Poor. Below is a list of the activities local Knights and Dames participated in to celebrate.
On November 14th, members delivered meals and fresh fruit to the homeless on the streets of NYC after their Area dinner during Investiture Weekend.
On November 15th, Knights and Dames made 350 sandwiches with the special needs students at St. Catherine Academy to feed the homeless in Bridgeport.
On November 16th, members fed 350 people a warm breakfast at the Thomas Merton Center in Bridgeport.
On November 17th, Knights and Dames continued their fundraising efforts for a special campaign honoring the World Day of the Poor. Proceeds from this campaign, which will be ongoing until Thanksgiving, will be used to feed the poor.
On November 21st, members partnered with the women of Malta House to make 150 turkey and cheese sandwiches to feed the homeless at Open door Shelter in Norwalk. The beautiful mothers at Malta House are poor and in need of compassion and care. They came to Malta House needing a home of love and support during their pregnancy and after their baby is born. Partnering with these moms to make sandwiches for others in need is a way that the mothers at Malta House give back and care for other needy people in their community.
