The Connecticut Area’s Response to COVID-19

04/06/2020

We are happy to share the efforts being made by the Southern, Western, and Northern Connecticut Area to aid those in need during this time of crisis. Within the last few weeks, local members have participated in a variety of outreach opportunities:

Letters of Encouragement to COVID-19 Patients

We are piloting a program and got approval from hospital management for our members to write hand written notes of encouragement to those suffering alone in the hospital with COVID-19.  Local members have already delivered 100 notes to patients at Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC. We hope to expand this project to hospitals all over Connecticut and New York and would encourage other Area to do the same. We have also delivered some of our hand knotted Rosaries with these notes of encouragement.

Member Outreach Calls

We have 10 members from our Area doing outreach calls to all members to check in and see how they are holding up.

Preparing Food for Those in Need

Every Tuesday and Thursday, local members are preparing 150 bagged meals for the homeless and food insecure in our Area. We are dropping the meals off at the Thomas Merton Center on Tuesdays and The New Covenant Center on Thursdays.

Virtual Rosary and Stations of the Cross

We are offering a virtual Rosary every Monday – Thursday at 7 PM ET. and a virtual Stations of the Cross Friday at 7 PM ET. This Rosary not only welcomes our CT Area members, but members from other Areas, other Associations, and even non-members calling in to join us in prayer.
