On Monday, August 5th, the Feast of the Dedication of the Basilica of St. Mary Major, 20 Knights, Dames, volunteers, and friends gathered for First Monday Mass. The service was held in the beautiful crypt chapel of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. This hidden jewel, located beneath the main altar, is usually not open to the public.
During his homily, Fr. Enrique Salvo, ChM, Assistant Principal Chaplain of the American Association, spoke about the miracle of the multiplication of five loaves and two fish that fed 5000 men, in addition to women and children. Throughout His ministry, Jesus invites us to participate in His works by accepting what we have to offer and multiplying it.
So our actions, no matter how insignificant they may seem, can still make an impact. In light of the Order’s mission to serve the poor and the sick, Fr. Salvo’s words were an important reminder that nothing we offer is ever too small to become something great.
