Holy Macaroni! NYC Area Delivers 3100 boxes of Macaroni & Cheese

12/12/2025

A great lesson was learned by the NYC Area this week as members facilitated a donation of 3100 boxes of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese to St. John’s Bread & Life in Brooklyn. On Wednesday, our Principal Chaplain, His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan, GCCC, was facilitating donations of Kraft food at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and was informed that 3 pallets of donated mac & cheese came on the truck. The Knights flew into action when Christopher Lee, KM called Eric Vitale, KM to see if the Malta Mobile Ministry Van could receive the food within one hour!

Eric called Mobile Ministries Chair, Michael Smilek, KM who informed him the Van was in the Bronx helping deliver food at Thrive for Life Prison Ministry with Italo Sanchez, AUX. Michael relayed with Charles East, YOF who headed to meet Italo at the parking lot in Manhattan and hold the Kraft truck in place until Italo arrived with the Van. After loading all 3100 boxes into the Van the team was ready to deliver. But where?!?!

Eric called Steve Bujno, KM, who is on the board of St. John’s Bread & Life (one of Brooklyn’s largest emergency food providers), and Bread & Life was thrilled to receive the donation. So the team (plus Amber Vitale, DM) headed to Brooklyn at 7:30am to deliver the boxes. The great lesson is this: when we work alone we can do much good, but when we work as an Order we can move mountains!
