Malta Walks New Haven

05/22/2026

On Tuesday evening, May 19, Malta Walks New Haven was inaugurated. Five of us—two Knights and three Associates— prayed, made sandwich bags, walked to various parts of New Haven where the homeless dwell and offered the simple sandwich bag. Many times conversation ensued among our new friends.

We started out from St Joseph Church of Blessed Michael McGivney Parish, New Haven.

In several cities in the American Association of the Order of Malta, e.g., NYC, Boston, Bridgeport, Providence, and now New Haven,“Malta Walks” is a charitable work to care for the homeless in a dignified way.

Malta Walks is encountering Jesus Christ in the homeless man and woman. It is a work of hope and friendship in tough circumstances. MWNH is a recognition that it is not a “us” versus “them” attitude. It is “all of us” living together as best we can under the power of the Holy Spirit. We can recognize in the experience what the Lord prayed, “that we may be one.”

Blessed be God.
