Residents of Barry Apartments in Palatka enjoyed an early celebration of America’s 250th birthday on July 1, as members of the Northeast Florida Area hosted a festive Independence Day cookout.

Surrounded by patriotic decorations and accompanied by live music, residents were treated to a generous lunch featuring smoked ribs, grilled bratwurst, hot dogs, classic sides, snacks, ice cream, and more.

Knights, Dames, and a volunteer prepared and served the meal, creating an afternoon of fellowship and celebration for residents of the Catholic Charities low-income housing community.

The gathering is the latest in a series of events organized and funded by local Knights and Dames, reflecting their ongoing commitment to serving and connecting with residents throughout rural north Florida.
