The Michigan Area celebrated the feast day of St. John the Baptist, patron saint of the Order of Malta, on Sunday, June 27th. Mass was celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Michael LeFevre, ChM, with approximately 60 local Knights, Dames, Auxiliary, Year of Formation Candidates, and family members.
Following Mass, guests attended the Michigan Area’s annual meeting and brunch at Bloomfield Hills Country Club. In addition to Area updates, we were blessed with a beautiful presentation on iconography by Donna Nelson, a Year of Formation Candidate of the Class of 2021. Donna has been writing icons for 15 years and has created an apostolate around creating prayer cards from her icons. The presentation was wonderful and the questions by our members were very engaging.
Pictured above from left to right is Michigan Area Co-Chair Barbara Wilson, Donna Nelson, and her husband and fellow Class of 2021 Candidate, Doug Nelson. Donna is holding an icon of the visitation where the baby John leaped for joy in Elizabeth’s womb. Very appropriate for our feast day.
