The Latest Update from the Philadelphia Area

03/18/2022

Members in the Pennsylvania – Philadelphia Area have had quite the busy schedule over the last few weeks.

February Happenings

On Saturday, February 5th, Knights and Dames gathered for Saturday Salve Mass, celebrated by Fr. Daniel Bown, O. de M., at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Overbrook. Following Mass, members assembled blessing bags with provisions for the homeless. These blessing bags, which included gloves, warm hats and scarves, socks, toiletries, personal supplies, and food, were distributed at the food kitchen run by the Missionary Sisters of Charity in Norristown.

On Sunday, February 7th, members held their monthly Zoom meeting, where they prayed for Ukraine and provided an update on local Area happenings.

On Friday, February 11th, Knights and Dames attended the installation of Fr. Michael Phelan, O. de M., as the new pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Overbrook.

On Monday, February 28th, several Knights and Dames participated in a Votive Mass for Peace in Time of War, with Fr. William Cantrell. This Mass was held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bridgeport, a parish of the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter.

March Happenings

On Sunday, March 6th, Knights and Dames gathered for Saturday Salve Mass and a Lenten Day of Reflection with Fr. Daniel Bown, O. de M., at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Overbrook. Immediately following, Knights and Dames made meals for the homebound before listening to Fr. Daniel’s reflection. Many took the opportunity for confession as well as silent reflection. The retreat was a great opportunity for personal sanctification and a group religious activity promoted to all local members of our Order.

On Tuesday, March 8th, members participated in the Area’s monthly Zoom meeting for prayer and an update on local Area happenings.
